Raspberries need lots of sun but it is good to provide afternoon shade. Also if possible it is good to provide some wind protection. It is also recommended that your raspberries have a support system like the one below.

Each spring, Andrea adds a little elemental sulfur to the raspberries’s soil. Doing so lowers the PH level of the soil which raspberries are inclined to thrive better in. In the spring it is also good time to trim the remaining canes down to ground level. Additionally it is an ideal time to add fertilizer to the soil.
