Debbie Cook, Master Gardener and Certified Arborist, was joined on the phone today by Janet Peterson. Janet is the state president for the Idaho Garden Clubs. Have you ever thought about joining or starting a garden club?
Garden Clubs of Idaho is a member of the National Garden Club and the Pacific Region. There are sixteen garden clubs in Idaho, with nine of them being right here in the Treasure Valley. Garden clubs are active in their communities, assist with youth organizations and provide horticulture education and seminars. Taken from the Garden Clubs of Idaho website: “A Garden Club will give you access to people who are experienced in gardening in your locality and you will find their assistance invaluable.”
If you are interested in learning more about garden clubs, please visit their website to find one in your area.
Debbie also took some listener calls in the second half of her show. Listen in for questions and answers about planting bulbs, the importance of soil temperature when planting your garden, transplanting flowers, the truth about Bradford pear trees in our region, pros and cons about tree wrap and how to take care of your acid loving plants.
