Certified Arborist and Master Gardener, Debbie Cook, talks about tree trimming and applying Dormant Oil. With the sunny days and 50 degree weather, we are all anxious to get out and clean up our yards. While we may be tempted to start with tree pruning, Debbie reminds us of some dos and don’ts that will benefit the overall health and beauty of our trees. While pruning, we must refrain from “topping” or cutting off the tops and also refrain from cleaning out the middle or inside of the tree. Debbie tells us that it is time to apply Dormant Oil to suffocate insects that have been over-wintering on our trees.
