Members of the Wilson Butte 4-H club are planning their 10th Annual Cowboy trail ride and Fun Run (Sat.) April 27. The fundraising event is set with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Riders can head out on the trail up till 11:30. (Riders must be back in camp by 1:30 p.m. to be included for the fun run). The ride is approximately 2 hours long around the Blackstock Ranch. Entry Fee is $15, which includes ride, fun run and lunch. Organizers say this trail gives the riders the opportunity to get out and ride their horse on an actual trail. Some challenging obstacles are placed along the way but these are optional to the horse & rider.
The Idaho Farm Bureau was on hand last year to film the western event and F.B. President Frank Priestley was one of the 215 horseback riders, which can be viewed on their website at www.idahofb.org or on YouTube. You can also see the 2012 pictures on their Flickr account.
Dan Sevy and his band will be singing country tunes as riders return to camp. Dan has supported us every year and enjoys the day as we do. The Idaho Dairymen’s will quench your thirst. Maggie the milking cow will be there and a definite crowd pleaser will be the best-dressed little buckaroo contest open to 9-year-old and under.
There will be two top prizes for fun run winners and a chance of winning “many” other donation items including a $100 gas card, a half ton hay or a beautiful western quilt made by Lisa Merritt. www.wilsonbutte4hclub.blogspot.com If interested in tickets or more information is needed call the W.B.
