Once known as the Cowpoke Classic, The Treasure Valley Classic Junior Beef Show will be held this Saturday, May 12th at the Owyhee County Fairgrounds in Homedale, Idaho. The following post is from the Ag Weekly.
March 15, 2012 n The Treasure Valley Classic Junior Beef Show, formerly known as the Cowpokes Classic, is scheduled once again for this spring, sporting a new name and date.
This year’s Classic Show will be held on Saturday, May 12th at the Owyhee County Fairgrounds in Homedale, Idaho. 4-H and FFA youth who own registered heifers and prospect and market steers are encouraged to enter.
The event once again features added money for supreme heifer and steer entries, and an award for overall showman. Exhibitors will show by age in the showmanship competition, and all exhibitors who’ve shown in two or fewer shows are eligible for the novice showmanship class.
Registered heifer shows include Hereford, Angus, English AOB and Continental AOB. Steers will show by weight, with champions selected in both light- and heavy-weight divisions.
Steer weigh-in is from 8 to 9 a.m. on show day; the show begins at 12 noon. Exhibitors are required to bring their own bedding and clean stalls before departure. Generators are encouraged, and food will be available on-site.
Early-bird entry fee is $30 per head if postmarked by April 20th. After that, entries are $40 per head and will be taken up to 9 a.m. show morning. For entry forms, go to: www.splitbutte.com, and click on “IJHA.”
