Dutch Oven Wild River Mud

What You Will Need
12 Inch Dutch Oven
8-10 Regular coals – Top
8 Regular Coals – Bottom

One Boxed Chocolate Cake Mix
The “Mud” Mix:
1/2 Cup Cocoa Powder
3 Cups Hot Water
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Tsp. Vanilla
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
1 Package Chocolate Chips
3/4 Cup Nuts (Optional)
Whip Topping or Vanilla Ice Cream

Mix cake mix according to cake directions and set aside. Can use a gallon zip-lock back to mix all ingredients, then cut a lower corner to squeeze cake mix out.

Spray Dutch Oven with non-stick spray. Line the oven with foil (optional). Pour the prepared cake batter into the oven. Mix the “MUD” in a separate bowl and pour over the cake batter. Put the lid on the oven and put the coals on. Bake about 40 minutes. Remove the lid about 5 minutes before baking time is up and sprinkle on the chocolate chips and nuts. Allow chocolate chips to melt for a few minutes. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream. Garnish with whole pecans and a Hershey’s Kiss.
