This Saturday, the 18th of June, the Idaho Beef Council presents the Night of Your Life event and fundraiser helping women in need of services and education towarads prevention for the Nampa Saint Alphonsus Medical Center. Both breast cancer survivors are urged to attend as are friends and family of those who have battled and either won or sadly, lost their fight to this unkind disease.
According to BreastCancer.org, about one in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, that is 12 percent of the female population. About 39,840 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2010 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1990. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness. The good news in all of this is that in 2010, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.
D&B will be putting on a fashion show at the event Saturday night and along with other sponsors such as The Idaho Press Tribune, Kissin’92 Country, Fox12, Hampton Inns & Suites, Today’s Woman and Intermountain Community Bank are all dedicated to ridding this cancer from our vocabulary.
Tickets are available at the door or on the Idaho Press Tribune site for $15 and $10 for breast cancer survivors. You can RSVP with Facebook, here, although it is not a requirement. Wine, appetizers and a goody bag are provided along with good times and great conversations.
We all need a Girls Night Out, make this Saturday night, the Night of Your Life.
