Treasure Valley Classic Junior Beef Show Scheduled for May 17th
April 12, 2014 – The Treasure Valley Classic Junior Beef Show is scheduled once again for this spring, and will be held on Saturday, May 17th, at the Owyhee County Fairgrounds in Homedale, Idaho. 4-H and FFA youth who plan to show registered beef heifers and market steers at summer shows and fairs are highly encouraged to enter.
This year’s event features registered Hereford, Angus and English AOB/Continental AOB breeding heifer shows. Steers will show by weight in light- and heavy-weight divisions, with champions selected in both.
Additionally, the Classic features a showmanship competition, with divisions for junior, intermediate and senior exhibitors.
Overall awards will be presented in heifer, steer and showmanship competitions, in addition to class and division winners.
Steer weigh-in is from 8 to 9 a.m. on show day; the show begins at 12 noon. Exhibitors are required to bring their own bedding and clean stalls before departure. Generators are encouraged, and food will be available on-site.
Exhibitors from 8 to 21 years of age are welcome to enter, with ages reflective as of January 1st of the current year. Early entry fee is $30 per head, postmarked May 9th. Steer entries will be taken up until 9 a.m. show morning, but heifer entries are due by May 9th. No heifer entries will be taken day of show.
The Classic is an Idaho Junior Hereford Association-sanctioned show, and is hosted in cooperation with Canyon County’s Cowpokes 4-H Club.
